Join Alan Mann, Artistic Director of the Opera Theater of Connecticut, for a pre-broadcast talk on the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 5:30 pm at the Guilford Free Library, 67 Park Street, Guilford, CT 06437. The opera will be broadcast live in theaters on Saturday, May 30. Fashioned as a reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth, the story depicts Frida, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met premiere of Frank’s opera, a “confident, richly imagined score.” The vibrant new production, taking enthusiastic inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings, is directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker. Co-sponsored by the Shoreline Opera Club and Shoreline Village. This program is free and open to all.
